New Zealand Football has appointed lawyer Mark Aspden as interim chief executive following the abrupt departure of Grant McKavanagh last week

McKavanagh's resignation takes effect from this Friday after just over two years in the job.
In resigning last week, McKavanagh said he felt the next period of development for NZF required a different skill set from what he could offer.
Aspden is a commercial lawyer, and has previously worked in management roles in law, telecommunications and home care
cloud solution.
He was appointed to the Auckland Football Federation Board in 2003, and chaired the board for two years from 2006. He joined the NZF board in January 2008, and was reappointed for a further four years in May this year.
NZF chairman Frank van Hattum said Aspden would ensure the organisation delivered on its strategic goals and partnership obligations.
